Temples that are in urban locations will often have many services open to the public, while Wats in more remote areas will be similar to the Thai Forest Tradition temples and have fewer public activities. It is best to either visit the temple's Web site, e-mail or call ahead to find out whether visitors are welcome. On the other hand, some temples may be rather strictly focused on meditation and Dharma instruction. The temples may have classes in the Thai language and arts, or may have different weekly activities and holiday celebrations, available to the public, such as pouring water over the Buddha sculptures during Songkarn. To generalize, the Dahmayutti Nikaya sect of Theravada Buddhism is more strict than the Maha Nikaya sect. The terms "Maha Nikaya" and "Dhamayutti Nikaya" refer to the two principal sects of modern Thai Buddhism.
